Lesson Plan and Reflection
by Mizuho
I tried it to warm up by a game method in introduction because I thought that students were not tired. However, students were only lost by this game and students were tired.
In this class, I advanced the class assuming preparing for tomorrow’s lesson. I put the picture of the textbook on the blackboard and give a hint with showing it. And I have students answer questions. ( Questions→1. What is Ben doing now? 2. What is Ben’s father doing?) And I have students read a sentence and confirmed what happened to Ben afterward wanted to have them ds understand the contents of the sentence. Finally, I wanted to have them understand that Ben sat down calmly and connect it with what is “time out”.
Our lesson plan is all students stood, and the way they sat down from the student who finished silent reading. But I was not able to do it because I forgot it.
Students never understand our question contents and the purpose of the class because I made a mistake in a question and became the best to warn students. So, I have confused students. The coexistence of warning a student and advancing a class was very difficult. I have should do more preparations and decide a role. ( Role→ advanced a class. Warned a student.)
I thought that the prospect of the class and preparations is very important. I want to be careful from now on.
Thank you for listening our class!

About lessonplan, please look at MIZUHO’s post .
I ‘ll report about class management.
I couldn’t manage the class.
Because we didn’t make deep class management plans.
I can understand that “keep student besy”
But I couldn’t do that.
Our class was ”Reading” class, so I didn’t have some ideas that ”saying” the key sentences (please repeart after me~) and so on.
And we should communicate (talk) with students to manage a class even if the topics are not appropriate for class. (as Mr.Hall and Mr.Kanno said, “What are you taking about? TV? oh I watched too, I like OOO.” )
That’s toooooo difficult!!!!! thank you!!

Thank you for your teaching practice.
What I noticed while you were teaching was that you two didin’t warn students who talked each other at all. I felt bothered by them. It means real students might also be bothered by such students. So you should have talked to students who talked .
I think crisscross is good way to have students’ attention to study. Rhythm is important to get that game interesting.
Students didn’t seemed to understand your question about the boy. If so, you can ask student’s easier question again. After they understand that, they will be able to answer your Original question.

Warm up by a game is good idea, because it is very interesting and students can speak English.
I think that we should confirm some new words before start questions, because we don’t know the degree of preparation that students did .
Thank you for your class!

Good job and thank you for your reading class.
I think warm-up for students is important. Because their mood for starting the English class is higher. So your activity is very good!
Also, the pictures impacted, and I could understand what they mean. But the content of this class is a little difficult, I think,so I couldn’t understand any content.
I think class management is too difficult, too!! The teacher talk to many students more and more, then the students’ attention turn on the class.

I was in the role of a ALT lover. But I didn’t understand which of you were ALT. CLADDAGH was ALT, wasn’t she?
You picked on one or two students to answer. I think you should listen to more students because the students who wasn’t picked on may have good answer. For example, you get the students (who wants to answer) standing, and get them speaking by turns.

I enjoyed your class!
I think warm-up activity was so nice, because we can make a good atmospher in a class through English game. This time, we didn’t have enough time to play a game, but I think it is useful in a real class.
I also think you had to warn students who talked during the class.
I thought it was important that we deviced classes to make students concentrate on a class. Let’s think and learn good ways in the class management together!

The activity in this class was interesting for not only me but also junior high school students. It was near the game. Game is helpful for teachers to attract students.
I thought teacher should have care the students more. Some students didn’t join the class; some was sleeping and some was talking to others all time. Although management of students is so difficult, teacher’s role is not only teach something.

Warm-up activiy is a good point. That changed Student’s feelings into “English time”. So I think you had a good job.
But I didn’t understand which of you were ALT.
I wanted you make this point clear.
thank you.
